Chester Walter Cooper, 91, of Belgrade, passed away Dec. 21, 2010.

He was born March 17, 1919, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Stanley and Frances (Dombrowicz) Swietniewski.
He married Sylvia I. Smith in Buffalo, N.Y., on Sept. 29, 1945.
He served in the U.S. Army, 10th Mountain Division, during World War II. He was also a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Chester is survived by his wife, Sylvia; daughters, Christine Hargreaves and Barbara (Alan) Jones; son, Michael (Carla) Cooper; and sister, Rita Carey. He is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
