SHERIDAN -- On July 7, 2007, the Lord sent his angels to bring Cortney Rae Bieroth to her heavenly home. Cortney was born on Aug. 5, 1983, to Del and Robin (Young) Bieroth in Pocatello, Idaho, and our hearts then learned a greater depth of love than we knew possible.
She took her first flight when she was just six hours old when she was flown to Salt Lake City for surgery for spina bifida. At the age of 3 months she graced our lives with the sound of her whole-hearted laugh, and we heard the laughter of angels. She became a big sister in April 1986 when her brother, Ty, was born, and she cherished this role.
She moved with her family to Sheridan in 1992 and became a true Panther fan. She was proud to be a member and graduate of Sheridan High School's Class of 2002. She participated in FCCLA and cheerleading.
During high school Cortney faced the challenge of kidney failure and the wonder of a kidney transplant given by her father. Having a new lease on life, she was sitting up laughing at "The Golden Girls" a few hours after her surgery. During her recovery and follow-up appointments, she and her mother set out on the quest of finding the best brownie sundae. Each trip included a stop at a new restaurant to try, and the prize winner was Applebees.
She loved a good cinnamon roll, swimming, beading, and listening to country music. She had a fondness for Elvis movies, let her whole-hearted laugh resound to The Blue Collar Comedy Club, and enjoyed family games of Sequence, and poker during the Young family Christmas gatherings. She had a talent for choosing the perfect card for any occasion, and each card touched the heart of the recipient with her sense of humor.
Cortney is survived by her parents, Del and Robin Bieroth of Sheridan; her brother, Ty of Belgrade; grandmother, Ada Rose Larious of Elko, Nev.; and grandfather, Gordon Young of Choteau. She is also survived by her Young family aunts and uncles, Mark and Julie Young of Augusta, and Nancy and John Lund of Bozeman; and her Bieroth family aunts and uncles, Denise and Lonnie Waltrip, Sylvia and Bill Jarvis, Dona and Pete Jones, and Dennis and Marcia Bieroth of Elko and Mountain City, Nev.; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Eileen Young; paternal grandfather, George Bieroth; and her cousin, Sean Waltrip.
Memorials are preferred to the Ruby Valley Ambulance Service in Sheridan, and the Sheridan Swimming Pool.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the new elementary school gymnasium in Sheridan. Interment will follow in Sheridan Cemetery.
K&L Mortuaries of Sheridan is in charge of arrangements.
