Craig passed away at his home on New Year's Eve after being diagnosed with Stage 4 liver cancer on Dec. 21, 2012. Although we are shocked and saddened by his sudden passing, we are relieved that he did not suffer long with this disease.

Craig was born in Bozeman on March 16, 1955 to Ronald and Margie Hoyem. He attended Bozeman schools and graduated from Bozeman Senior High in 1973. That fall he enlisted in the United States Navy for a six-year stint where he served on the USS Trippe. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Bozeman and attended Montana State University where he graduated in 1985 with a degree in electrical engineering. He often said his years at Montana State University were his best.

After graduation, Craig moved to Oxnard, Calif. where he was employed as a civilian engineer in the Cruise Missile Program for the United States Navy at the Port Hueneme Naval Base. Craig was extremely proud of the accolades he received on his exemplary service/employment with the United States Navy upon his retirement on May 31, 2011.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, John Hoyem of Portland, Ore.; sister, Rhonda Hoyem, and niece, Amanda Ostermiller, both of Bozeman.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Craig was funny, honest and lived his life with integrity. To quote his dear friend, "Craig was just a really good guy."
