David Robert Hancox, 59, of Gallatin Gateway, Mont., passed away Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014 in Bozeman. He was born March 1, 1955 to Robert Owen and Roberta (Keppel) Hancox in Bethlehem, Pa., where he grew up and graduated from Freedom High School.

He attended Worcester Polytechnical Institute in Worcester, Mass., and later Montana State University in Bozeman. Dave married, had two sons and later divorced. He was a successful contractor and owned his construction business.
Dave was an adventurer, both physically and mentally. He appreciated discovery – places, ideas, and information. Books were his favorite possession. He also knew how to have fun. Dave enjoyed music with lots of jamming, art, reading, hockey and hiking, and he adored his sons.
Dave is survived by his sons, Benjamin Hancox and Lucas Hancox; sisters, Sally Siegfried and Susan Hancox; and brother, Stephen Hancox.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, Nov. 21 from noon to 3 p.m. at 108 Wheeler Mountain Way in Gallatin Gateway.
