Dick E. Visser passed away on Jan. 6, 2008, at the age of 74. He was born on Oct. 12, 1933, to John and Jacoba Visser.
Dick spent his entire life on the Visser farm. Farming was not only an occupation but the joy of his life. Favorite times were hours on the tractor doing fieldwork, calving time and grain harvest. Dick also enjoyed the grandchildren and great-grandchildren immensely and in later years gave many rides on the four-wheeler.
His parents, John and Jacoba Visser, brothers Henry, Wilbur and James, and sisters, Harriet and Cornelia preceded him in death.
Dick is survived by his wife, Hermina (Dykman), and six children: Linda Visser of Martin, Mich., Ernest Visser of Manhattan, Marcella (Larry) Schiff of Enumclaw, Wash., Almira (Tom Aleksich) De Waal of Schoolcraft, Mich., Joel (Amy) Visser of Manhattan, Arvella (Doug) Jergesen of Fernley, Nev.
Dick also leaves two brothers, John of Grandville, Mich., and Elmer (Pearl) of Harrison; sisters, Lidea (John) Kamps, and Margaret Sinnema; sisters-in-law, Berniece Visser, Nelly Visser; and brother-in-law, Albert Bolhuis.
Grandchildren are Angela (Calvin) Gillihan, Amanda Nunez, Jared and David Schiff, Calvin and Alex De Waal, Shawn, Rachel and Levi Visser, Madison and Tanner Jergesen.
Great-grandchildren are Hailie, Ethan, Taylor, Cole and Rileigh Gillihan.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, in Hills Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at Manhattan Christian Reformed Church.
