Dolores Loraine "Dolly" Champlin died of cancer on May 7, 2011, at home in Bozeman. Born May 29, 1930, in Los Angeles, Calif., she was a graduate of Washington High School (1948) in Los Angeles and Pepperdine College, Class of 1951.

As an elementary school teacher for the Torrance Unified School District, she inspired many of her students and remained in touch with many of them after her retirement.
She and her husband, Bob, celebrated their 60th anniversary in August 2010.
Dolly best summed up her life: "I have been fortunate to have been married to my best friend and love of my life for 60 years, have wonderful children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I was able to work in a profession I love - teaching - for most of my life. Who could ask for more?"
Dolly is survived by her husband, Robert Champlin; daughter, Karen Wong of Round Rock, Texas; son, Curt Champlin of Torrance, Calif.; grandchildren, Erika Wong Arnold, Laura Wong, William Champlin, Hannah Champlin, and Mallory Champlin; great-grandchildren, Misha and Ethan Arnold; and sister, Joan Womack of Salt Lake City, Utah.
A celebration of Dolly's life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at the Bozeman Elks Lodge.
