Donald Leroy Brelsford passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the Marcus Daly Hospice in Hamilton, Mont. He was born Aug. 10, 1933, the son of Hazel and Robert Brelsford in Bozeman.

Don grew up in Bozeman, attended high school, class of 1952. He went to Montana State College, graduated in 1956, doing doctorial work until 1962. Don worked as a chemical engineer for Anaconda Aluminum, Thiokol, Martin Marietta and ADM before returning with his family to Bozeman. In 1968, Don started a consulting firm researching solar energy and ethanol fuel.

Don loved skiing, was a Bridger Bowl ski patrolman, sat on the boards of Bridger Bowl, the Bridger Canyon Zoning Commission and the Bridger Ski Education Foundation. Memorials can be made in his name to BSEF. In recent years, he enjoyed the Sons of Norway and singing with the Chord Rustlers.

He married Leola Vaughn in 1954 and had five children; they divorced in 1982. Don is survived by two ex-wives, Leola and Joann; daughters, Pam Morris and Holly Faris; sons, Dan Brelsford and Richard (Skip) Brelsford; their husbands, wives and 10 grandchildren, Jessi Faris, Kate Morris, Jackson Morris, Jaimi Faris, Branden Brelsford, Sam Brelsford, Tanner Brelsford, Silver Brelsford, Heidi Brelsford and Mariah Brelsford; as well as a nephew, Robert Jackson and niece, Kim Jackson. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Shirley Jackson; ex-wife, Linda; and a daughter, Rebecca.

Don requested cremation. His family and friends will scatter his ashes up School Gulch in the Bridger Mountains he loved so much. His family wishes to thank the amazing nurses at Marcus Daly Hospice in Hamilton for their tender care and support in his last week.
