Donna Johnson passed away in the early morning hours Nov. 22, 2015, at her home in Bozeman, Montana, in the loving company of her husband, Arnold "Jake" Johnson.

Born Donna Maxine Heizer to Dean and Esther (Van Lente) Heizer on March 10, 1927, in Springfield, Ohio, Donna was one of seven siblings. She is preceded in death by Marlea Anderson, John Heizer, and Mary Jane Smith. Her sisters, Dolores Clark lives in Prescott Valley, Arizona, Helen Heiner in Georgia, and Deanna Strachbein in Beach, North Dakota.
Donna was the beloved mother (and grandmother) to six children and their families: Linda Barnes, Missoula, Montana, Susan Barnes, Belgrade, Maine, Wendy Barnes, Kasilof, Alaska, Sandra O'Brien, Hamilton, Montana, Joel O'Brien, Bozeman, Montana, and John O'Brien, Missoula, Montana.
Donna studied creative writing at the University of Montana and the University of Arizona. Several of her poems and short stories appeared in small press publications. So much of what she leaves behind is in her love of words.

There will be a private service held in her memory at a later date for family and close friends.
