Doris Stokke Vollmer, 91, passed away Feb. 23, 2010, in Butte. She was born Oct. 21, 1918, in Anaconda to Manda and Ole Stokke. She was the oldest of three siblings: Doris, Mel and Margaret.

She graduated from Anaconda High School in 1935, then attended Montana State College of Nursing and graduated in 1940.
Doris married Hank Vollmer on Nov. 5, 1942, in Port Angeles, Wash. While Hank served in the Navy during World War II, she worked for the Red Cross in California. They later moved to Bozeman, where they owned and operated the Vollmer and Sons Meat Processing Plant. Doris worked for the business wrapping meat. Later, she worked for Dana Corporation until she retired. Their sons, Ronald and Cory, were raised in Bozeman.
Doris was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi, and a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Bozeman. She enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle. Later, she and Hank moved to Big Sky Senior Living in Butte.
Preceding Doris in death were her parents; son, Ronald; husband, Hank; brother, Mel Stokke; sister, Margaret Boylan; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Cory and Trena (Kanbuch) Vollmer; grandchildren, Brad (Erin Peyton) Vollmer, Stacy (Doug) Humphries; great-grandson, Jaadyn Carter; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Stokke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
