Duane Shipman passed away on Dec. 11 following a short illness. Duane was born on Dec. 14, 1937 in Eugene, Ore., the third child of Elmyra and Richard Shipman. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Upon discharge he met and married his wife (Arlee) of 53 years. Duane and family relocated to Helena in 1971 and established Shipman Brothers Masonry. As a businessman and craftsman, Duane took pride in all the relationships he established and left his mark on many buildings in Helena and across the state of Montana.

Upon retirement, Duane could be found doing many things. Among his favorites was spending time with his eight grandkids, fishing and especially pheasant hunting in Eastern Montana, where he spent a lot of his time.
Duane is preceded in death by, his mother (Elmira), father (Richard), brother (Donald), sister (Carol Lee) and is survived by his wife, Arlee; sons, Dan, Dustin (Kasia) and daughter, Diana (Jim); sister, Marion and brother, Richard.
Cremation has taken place and as per Duane's request a celebration of life will be held at Jorgenson's in Helena Thursday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in his name to either: Pheasants Forever, P.O.
