Ed Welch, 79, of Bozeman, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at his residence. He was born Feb. 22, 1935 to Ed and Doris (Duckworth) Welch in Drumright, Okla. He lived in St. Anthony, Idaho and Bozeman, where he graduated from Bozeman High School and attended Montana State College.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1956. He later married Edith Stickler on June 23, 1957 in Bozeman, and they had four children.
Ed worked for Rolfe & Woods, Electronics Research Lab at Montana State University, MSU Bookstore, and the Bozeman Fire Department.
He found enjoyment in remote controlled airplanes and carpentry.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary and Colleen. He is survived by his wife, Edith; daughters, Tracy (Chuck) Black and Sandy Burns; sons, Spencer (Traci) Welch and John (Christina) Welch; sister, Carolyn Smith; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren all of whom he adored.
Graveside services will be held Friday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. at Sunset Hills Cemetery followed by a celebration of Ed's life at the family residence at approximately 1 p.m. at 310 N. 18th, Bozeman.
