Edna Plum Mortensen, a long-time Gallatin Valley resident, passed to her next life on May 19, 2007. She was born in Ingomar, Mont., on May 29, 1918, to John and Laura (Dungy) Plum.

In 1937 she graduated from Musselshell High School and from Kinman Business College in Spokane, Wash., in 1938. After graduation, she was employed as Deputy Clerk of Court in Polson.

On May 16, 1940, she married Raphael M. Mortensen in Missoula. During World War II, they moved to Portland, Ore., and returned to the Gallatin Valley in 1946. She worked at Montana State University for 23 years and retired in 1978.

Her husband died in 1982.

She was a member of the Bozeman Christian Center and the Bozeman Senior Center. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, six brothers and daughter Donna (Andy) Neff of Butte.

Survivors include her son, Ronald Mortensen of Gallatin Gateway; son and daughter-in-law John and Diana Mortensen of Helena; daughter Sharon (Larry) Townsend of Bozeman; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Memorials in her name may be made to the Bozeman Senior Volunteer Program, 807 N. Tracy Ave.
