Eleanor Catherine Gajewski, 78, of Belgrade, Montana, passed into the arms of her loving Savior Jan. 2, 2016. She was born April 25, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, to Maximillian and Eleanore (Rafalski) Shaefer where she began attending school. As a child, her family moved to Tucson, Arizona, where she continued to attend school. She moved to Montana in 1976 and later to St. John, Washington, where she lived for 17 years. Eleanor returned to Montana later where she spent the rest of her life.
Eleanor was a beautiful, loving, devoted wife and mother. She also worked in her family's bakeries. Her last 12 working years were at the Salad Department for Montana State University. She was always involved in church and community activities. Eleanor loved taking care of her grandchildren and being an encouragement to her many friends. Her grandchildren will forever cherish their special memories of time spent with her. Eleanor had a passion for playing the piano and baking for all who visited her home. She will be greatly missed in this world by all who knew her, especially her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Eleanor is survived by her husband, Gerald; daughters, Christine (Steve) Bachmeier, Catherine (Jack) Dorsey, and Laure (Jade) Watson; son, Gerald (Michelle) Gajewski; sister, Sally Filippini; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel with funeral services to follow at 3 p.m. Interment following at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
