Hurricane, Utah – Betty Veltkamp, faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Betty went peacefully to be with her loving Savior Jesus Christ on Oct. 10, 2014 at home. Born Elisabeth DeVries on Aug. 23, 1939 to her Dutch parents, Wabe and Wiepkj (Bakker) DeVries at Joure, The Netherlands. In June 1947 at the age of 7 years along with her parents, three brothers and two sisters she boarded the Royal Dutch Airlines bound for the United States. Betty's family immigrated and began their new life in Conrad, Mont. On Dec. 13, 1954 she was granted her citizenship. In 1959 she graduated from Conrad High School. After high school she moved to Bozeman where she worked in a bakery and helped support her sister, Tena, through beauty school. While in Bozeman she met Roy Veltkamp from Manhattan, Mont. who would become her husband on Dec. 28, 1961. Roy and Betty made their home in Gallatin Valley where they raised their family until 1985 when for health reasons moved to southern Utah.

Betty loved the Lord and sharing His great love for her. She loved her family and friends. She was never one to complain and loved life to its fullest despite her limitations. She enjoyed shopping trips with friends, Bible studies and watching basketball. She liked laughing and had a great sense of humor.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Roy Veltkamp; daughter, Julie Veltkamp of Los Angeles, Calif.; son, Casey Veltkamp and Amy of Stevensville, Mont.; son, Bill Veltkamp and Jan of Ivins, Utah; three brothers, two sisters and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother and by her loving and precious son, Rodger.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the St. George Community Church. A graveside service and burial will take place later in the week at Hills Cemetery, 10915 Little Holland Road, Manhattan, Mont.
