Elmer Schott passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at the age of 78. He was born Oct. 24, 1937, to Chris and Pauline Schott in McLaughlin, South Dakota, and raised in Grey Cliff and Big Timber, Montana, with his seven brothers and sisters: Alvin, Marvin, Dale, Earl, Kenneth, Jeanette, and Alberta.

Instead of going to high school Elmer worked on his family's ranch and helped to support his family. He didn't end his schooling with grade school, he was able to attend the School of Hard Knocks.

Elmer spent over 50 years married to his love, Carol (Raisland). They have three children, Edwin, Susan, and Ellen. Along with his wonderful family Elmer remained close to several other friends that he made over the years. Elmer took his expertise and turned it into a career; he worked as a ranch hand until his retirement in 2005. When Elmer was not working hard he enjoyed dancing, listening to music, attending concerts, playing cards and board games, visiting, traveling, and of course teasing his loved ones. He lived a fantastic life!

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alvin and Dale, sister Bertie, and sister-in-law Linda (Beck).

He is survived by his wife Carol; son Edwin (Melanie), Nathan (Erin) and great-grandson Tucker, Neil (Jessica), Mariah; Susan (Terry) Cox, Justin (Erin) and great-grandkids Thayden and Sophia, Jason (Katelyn); Ellen Ross, Sabrina and Nick. He is also survived by his brothers Marvin (Ardy), Earl, Kenneth; sister Jeannette (Carl) Ronneberg; sisters-in-law Ann and Sharon; the Raisland family as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 23, 2015, at the Big Timber Lutheran Church.
