Eric Reed Hanson passed away quietly in his home on Jan. 31, 2015. Eric was born in Bozeman, Montana, on Oct. 15, 1953, to Guy and Ethel Hanson. He lived in West Yellowstone until moving to Bozeman in 1971. He attended Bozeman public schools from 1971 through 1976, when at the age of 23, he entered Reach, Inc. services.

Eric loved life and lived each day to the fullest. He was very vocal and enjoyed singing at the top of his lungs. He had a repertoire of songs that seemed endless. He loved animals, especially dogs. He could name many varieties by their picture. He enjoyed going to the animal shelter to play with the dogs and pet the cats. He had many wonderful sayings and a contagious laugh. He could light up a room just by being in it and charm his way into just about anyone's heart.

Eric participated in Special Olympics for many years. He could run fast and always declared "I win!" His favorite treat was ice cream but he never met a meal he didn't like. He enjoyed art and the walls were often covered with his masterpieces. He loved people and he loved to have his picture taken. His smile was ear to ear when he saw someone he knew. Eric touched the lives of many people and the joy he gave will remain in our memories forever. He will be dearly missed.

Eric was preceded in death by his father and mother, "Daddy Guy and Mommy Ethel", both of West Yellowstone and Pocatello, Idaho; as well as an older brother who died at birth; and his uncles, Don Hanson of Pocatello, Idaho, and Sam Hanson, also of Pocatello, Idaho.

A celebration of Eric's life will be held at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service on Friday, Feb. 12 at 10 a.m.

Arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.
