W. Ernest "Ernie" Christie, 79, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in Bozeman, Montana. Ernest was born on Oct. 10, 1935 to Laurence and Lorraine "Hilton" Christie in Bozeman.

Ernest attended Lower Bridger School and graduated from Gallatin County High School. He went on to earn his degree from Montana State University.

When he was younger, Ernest traveled around Montana by train, showing his Holstein Cows for 4-H. His love of Holsteins continued after college where he expanded his herd to start his own dairy west of town on the Ferguson Farm.

He served as the president and secretary of the Holstein Association and also served in the Army National Guard for several years.

Ernest is survived by his sister Elsie "Delbert" Martin; sister-in-law Marie Christie; brothers-in-law Gary Townsend and John Jay and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother George Christie and sisters Shelia Townsend and Claudina Jay.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery later this spring.
