Esther was born July 28, 1920 in Park City Montana, the daughter of John and Katherine Wagner. She grew up on a farm west of Billings with her ten brothers and sisters.

Esther married Jacob Neibauer, Jr. in Billings in 1938. They had three sons; Jack, Dennis and Roy. They farmed west of Billings until the death of her husband in 1973.

Esther was a caring, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all. She moved to Bozeman to be near her sons and grandchildren. She helped care for her grandchildren when Jack's wife Karen was suffering the effects of brain cancer.

While in Bozeman Esther met and married Norman Johnson. They moved to Billings to be close to Esther's sisters following the death of her son Jack in 1986.

Esther and Norman were married for 22 years. Due to failing health of both Esther and Norman they decided to move closer to their children. Norman moved to San Diego and Esther moved to Bozeman to live with her son Dennis (Shirley).

She later resided at the Gallatin Rest Home under the loving care of the many nurses and aides until the time of her passing.

Esther was preceded in death by her two husbands, Jacob Neibauer, Jr. and Norman Johnson; her son, Jack and his wife Karen; her parents; brothers and sisters, Katherine Walter, David Wagner, Amelia Frank, Helen Besel, Marian DeRaps, Harold Wagner, Wilbur Wagner, Eugene Wagner and Ron Wagner.
