Everett Messing, 84, of Billings (formerly of Three Forks), passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012 of natural causes at Billings Clinic.

He was born to the late Lars and Edith Messing in Big Timber on July 10, 1928. Everett was raised in the Big Timber area, and attended schools in Big Timber as well. He married Eve Ripley in Big Timber on March 19, 1949, and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage before Eve's passing on June 25, 2009.
Everett and Eve lived near Big Timber on the Sweet Grass for a number of years, before selling their ranch and moving to Wilsall. In Wilsall, he worked for the Dewart Ranch until 1968 and then moved to the Spanish Creek Ranch near Three Forks. After several years, Everett moved his family to the CA Ranch on the Madison near Three Forks, where he worked until retirement. He then worked summers for the Tom Lane Ranch at their summer cow camp outside of Wilsall.
Everett was a lifelong rancher, as well as an avid and skilled horseman who loved, and enjoyed all aspects of the western lifestyle. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, always having time for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lorraine Messing Cole; and wife, Eva Messing. He is survived by a son, Barry Messing and wife, Lisa of Sheridan, Wyo.; a daughter, Cindee Keller and husband, Tim of Billings; three grandchildren, Holly Hughes, Kyle Keller, Tyrel Keller and wife, Samie; and great-grandchildren, Grace and McKenzie Keller.
Cremation has taken place, and graveside services will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Big Timber on Saturday, July 21 at 1 p.m.
