Florence Ella Webber Marshall, 81, of Bozeman passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2011.
The Guest Book is expired.
Florence was born on Nov. 27, 1929, to Roy and Katie Webber in Big Timber. She spent her early years on her grandparents' ranch on the Main Boulder River south of McCloud. She loved the ranch life, horses and dogs. She attended local country schools and was the eighth-grade salutatorian of Sweet Grass County School. The family moved to Big Timber in the fall of 1942 so that Florence could attend high school.
She married Paul Westervelt in 1947 and bore three children, Johnnie, Micheal and Paula. She then moved to Butte to attend business college.
Florence later married Jim Devine, and had two children by this union, Patrick and Joseph. After Jim's death in 1959, she moved the family to Helena.
She worked all her life and her happiest times were while living in the mountains in Rimini, hunting, fishing and exploring the backroads.
Her children gathered there often. She liked chopping wood for the stove and baking bread and cookies. In her later years, she was a caregiver, eventually moving to Bozeman. Besides caring for people, she enjoyed doing watercolors for her own and others' pleasure. In February 2005, Florence married Bob Kern.
Florence was preceded in death by her son, Johnnie.
Survivors include her husband, Bob; sons, Micheal, Patrick, and Joe; daughter, Paula; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
