Florence Erickson, age 90, died peacefully on Monday, Aug. 13, 2007. She was born on June 6, 1917, in Regent, N.D.
The Guest Book is expired.
Florence grew up and received her education in New England, N.D. She met the love of her life, Vern Erickson, while singing in a church choir in Bowman, N.D., and on Aug. 17, 1939, they were joined in marriage. They raised four children, making their home in many towns in North Dakota, Wyoming, Arizona and Montana.
In 2001 they moved to the Waterford Retirement Community in Helena in order to be closer to family. While living at the Waterford, she shared her gift of music by playing the piano for the enjoyment of the residents and staff. She and her sister, Betty Apple, also played piano/organ duets as pre-dinner music.
Florence's husband of 65 years preceded her in death, as did her parents, Vernor and Lyda Page.
She is survived by daughters, Betty (Leo) Durham of Bozeman, Bonnie (Bob) Fisher of Helena, Beryl (Pat) McGuire of Casa Grande, Ariz.; and son, Ray (Margie) Erickson of Bozeman. Through these families there were seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Florence gave herself fully to making this world a better place for those who may cross her path. She was a friend to all and always put the needs of others above herself. To her children, she was their comforter, confidant, counselor and friend. Her faith in God was firmly instilled in the lives of her children. She was an amazing person and will be truly missed by all who knew her.
A private family service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at Hagler-Anderson Chapel in Helena. On the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 16, friends and neighbors are invited to a reception to celebrate her life at The Waterford, 915 Saddle Drive, Helena from 2 to 3 p.m.
