Frank DeHaan, of Belgrade, passed away on Oct. 9, 2011, after struggling with cancer.

Frank was born to Henry DeHaan Sr. and Jennie Mulder DeHaan on July 16, 1929, in Manhattan. Frank attended school in Manhattan and Bozeman, where he met his wife, Vera Vogel DeHaan. High school sweethearts Frank and Vera married June 26, 1948, and celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in June 2011.

They moved to the Menard area in 1954 and have remained on their grain and cattle ranch north of Belgrade for the past 57 years. In Frank's early years, he liked to hunt and fish. In later years, he enjoyed watching a variety of wild birds and other wildlife at his home. Frank's greatest joys in his life were his wife, his children and grandchildren.

Frank is survived by his wife, Vera; three children, Sharon DeHaan, Robert DeHaan (Carla), Teri DeHaan Roberts (Rick); grandchildren, Robbi DeHaan, Gary DeHaan (Toni), Lance DeHaan (Megan), Matthew and Megan Roberts; great-grandchildren, Delacy, Maci, Cody, Easton and Weston DeHaan; brothers, Henry DeHaan Jr. and George DeHaan (Sophia); sister, Gertrude Kempema (Herman); and sister-in-law, Mildred McAfee (Ken).

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dena DeHaan DeBie, Catherine DeHaan Dyk and Anna DeHaan Davis; father-in-law, Edward H. Vogel; mother in-law, Martha Vogel; brothers in-law, Peter Dyk and Donald F. Jones; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Jones and Mae DeHaan.

Memorials and contributions may be made to Pass Creek Community Center, in care of Alice Miller, 17850 Dry Creek Road, to Heart of the Valley Humane Society or to a .

A graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct 13, at Sunset Hills Cemetery. A reception will follow at 2 p.m. at the Homewood Suites by Hilton, 1023 Baxter Lane in Bozeman.
