Gary Allan Brenner, 69, of Gallatin Gateway, Montana, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. Gary spent most of his youth up Little Bear on the family ranch. His childhood was spent on horseback working fields or taking care of cows. He and his sister, Jackie, and a large number of cousins had many adventures on the ranch. At that time his parents, Jack and Erma, lived with their children in a small cabin just up from the main ranch house with no electricity or running water. Gary went to high school in Bozeman, then enlisted in the Navy during Vietnam and became a signalman on a ship. After returning home he apprenticed to become a pipefitter. He married Cheryl in 1970 and they had a son, Tyler, in 1972.
The Guest Book is expired.
Gary loved to ride horses, hunt elk and spend time with his family and friends. He spent lots of time on the road working all over the United States. He especially liked watching his granddaughters rodeo and travelled many miles to watch them ride.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Erma Brenner. Gary is survived by his wife, Cheryl Brenner; his son, Tyler (Shawna) Brenner; and granddaughters, Devyn and Madi Brenner; his sister, Jackie Alverson, (Wayne Groen); his niece, Tami Alverson; and nephew, Wayne Alverson (Cameron and Emily). Gary had many family and friends whom he cared for dearly.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, July 7 at 1 p.m. at Gallatin Gateway Community Center.
