Heaven has welcomed her home! On Wednesday Aug. 3, 2011, Jean began her new eternal life, free from the weight and restrictions of life on earth. She has beheld her beloved Savior, face to face and has been carried in His arms to be reunited with loved ones she has longed to see again. In heaven there are shouts of "Welcome Home!" and a celebration with family and friends who have gone to heaven before her and have been waiting for her arrival.
The Guest Book is expired.
Jean was born Genevieve Margaret Olson on Dec. 16, 1911, in Williston, N.D. Her family later moved to Glasgow, where she attended school and graduated. After graduation she moved to Billings to attend college to become a teacher. While teaching in Billings she met and married the love of her life, Richard A. Burton.
Family was the center of her life, and friends were always considered by her to be part of her family. Jean was a woman of many gifts and talents. In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, she also loved gardening, quilting, crocheting, playing the piano and organ, teaching, camping, reading, and writing children's stories.
Members of her family who have gone to heaven before her include her beloved husband, Richard Albert Burton; her two sons, Richard (Dickie) Burton, Larry Burton; and her daughter, Bonnie Sutton.
Jean is survived by daughter, Jean Jones of Bozeman, and daughter, Gloria (and George) Kealy of Spokane, Wash., as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She is deeply loved by friends and family. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. We have comfort and peace in knowing that, through Christ, we will see her again. We know that our separation from her is only temporary and that one day we will be reunited for all eternity.
To our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend we say: "We love you! We'll meet you there!"
A celebration of her life will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Evangelical Free Church of Bozeman. Arrangements in Billings will be by Smith Funeral Home, with a service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17. Interment will be in Mountview Cemetery in Billings.
