The family moved to Bozeman in 1939 and took over the family ranch in Bear Canyon. George graduated from Holy Rosary High School in 1947. His father died a year later leaving him to assume the responsibilities of the family ranch at the age of 18. He married Nancy Wheat on June 6, 1953, together they had nine children. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

George was a hard working farmer and rancher; he worked the ranch until his illness made it no longer possible.

George was a faithful member of Holy Rosary Catholic Parish and he served for 13 years as a school board member for the LaMotte School District. He enjoyed Class C basketball tournaments at the Montana State University field house and air shows at the Gallatin Field.

Dad is lovingly remembered for always helping his family and friends, his great sense of humor and his love of Montana's wilderness, which resulted in countless family picnics, hikes and camping trips to the beautiful lakes and historical sites around Montana. He never missed an opportunity to take out his camera for a family, holiday or birthday photo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Bernice and brother-in-law Jack Atkinson, two sons Randy and Robby.

Survivors include his wife Nancy of the family home; sons Faron , Kevin, and Chris ; daughters Carmel, Shari and Carla all of Bozeman, Shauna (Phil) Carter of Pray; seven cherished grandchildren Troy Carter, Allison (J.D.)
