Harriett A. Merry, 81, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2007, at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bozeman. She was born on Jan. 18, 1926, in Livingston to Harry and Eleanora (Spring) Swingley.
She grew up and attended school in Livingston, graduating from Park County High School.
On Aug. 21, 1945, Harriett married Denzil B. Merry in Livingston. They lived in Livingston, Bozeman, Billings, Kalispell, Butte, Helena, Great Falls and St. Paul, Minn., before coming back to Bozeman in 1982.
Harriett worked for First Bank in Livingston and Bozeman, for Midland Bank in Billings, and also worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad.
She enjoyed singing in church choirs, riding horses, knitting, sewing, snowmobiling, boating, gardening and canning. She was a member of Daughters of the Nile and Mad-Gals.
Harriett is survived by her husband of 61 years, Denny of Bozeman; daughter, Colleen (Ted) Phillips of Billings; son, Ronald (Kitt) Merry of Great Falls; son, Wayne (Eleanor) Merry of Bozeman; five grandchildren, Heather (Zane) Kohlman, Kimberly (Paul) Holefelder, Matthew Merry, Alisha Merry, Colt (Angela) Merry; and five great-grandchildren, Keilei and Karrissa Kohlman, Drayke and Daylan Holefelder, and Hunter Merry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12, at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel.
Memorials in her name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
