Bozeman native Herva (Fiske) Simpson died peacefully in Colorado Springs, Colo., where she lived for the last six years. Her heart could no longer support her active lifestyle.

Herva lived her early years at Eustis, Mont., where her father worked for the Milwaukee RR. She attended Three Forks High School and Montana State University, graduating with a master's degree in nursing. Her career was spent working for Bozeman Deaconess Hospital and MSU's School of Nursing.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ, and an active volunteer for many fundraisers and health services in Bozeman. She was a woman who did it all - family, career, volunteer work, hunting, fishing, piano, and, of course, harmonica.

In 1946 she married James L. Simpson who preceded her in death in 1987.

She is survived by three children, James, Jean (Rashkin) and Don; two brothers, John "Jack" Fiske of Bothell, Wash., and Sam Fiske of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Elizabeth "Bink" Pitman of Eureka, and Mary Gail Pool of Helena; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is pending.

Please send any donations to a Bozeman charity of your choice, or to the Bozeman Senior Center, 807 N. Tracy Ave., Bozeman, MT 59715.
