He was well known for being very funny, he told long stories and was nicknamed "The Story Teller." Jim always held a special and deep love for his family. He was a very caring spirit, always supportive of friends and family, loved people of all ages, especially children and they all loved him in return. Even though they were no longer together, he continued a loving friendship with the mother of his girls, Sandie Cox.
