James "Jim" R. Anderson, born Sept. 17, 1917, passed away in Bozeman, quietly in his sleep, on April 29, 2009, to join his family in heaven. Jim was born in Oswego, the son of Josephine (Legare) Anderson and Tom Anderson. He attended Carroll College, joined the Navy in World War II and served on a PT boat in the south Pacific.
The Guest Book is expired.
He married the love of his life, Betty Lou Tucker, in 1944, and they had a daughter, Catherine Rae and son, Douglas John Anderson. Betty passed away in 1991.
Jim was blessed to find and marry a high school sweetheart, Gladys, to share his final years with.
Jim was a founding member of the Young Republicans of Montana and retired after more than 30 years with the U.S. Forest Service in Great Falls, as well as retiring as an officer in the Montana Army Reserve.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys; son, Doug Anderson and his wife, Julie of Spokane, Wash.; his daughter, Catherine "Kate" Reid and her husband, Richard of Bozeman; grandchildren, Misty and her husband, Zack Mesel of Santa Rosa, Calif., Chris Bare and Sarah in Pullman, Wash., (daughter and son of Catherine), and Laine Anderson, John Anderson, and David Anderson of Spokane, Wash. Jim is also survived by his sisters, Colleen Anderson of Great Falls, Jessie Anderson of Bellingham, Wash., Connie Zachea of Las Vegas, Nev., and Marion Dropping of Boise, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.
After many years in Helena, Jim and Gladys had recently moved to Bozeman to be closer to family and be spoiled by the loving folks at Mercy Manor. As the wonderful father, brother, husband and friend he was, he will be very missed.
