James W. Collins, 71, of Belgrade, Montana, formerly of Hampstead, Maryland, passed away in his home on April 18, 2015, surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Brooklyn, New York, on July 29, 1943.

Jim joined the Marine Corps after graduating high school in 1961 and was forever a Marine. He spent most of his career in the building industry, most recently as an independent Building Inspector. Jim had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed all that Montana had to offer; camping, hiking, hunting, snowmobiling, and cross country skiing. He most enjoyed these activities in the company of his grandkids.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Collins; his son, Jim Collins; and daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Brian Heffner. He will always be "Pop' to his four grandchildren, Jenny and Matthew Collins, and Garrett and Gavin Heffner. He is also survived by his brothers and sister, Donald, Richard and Nancy.
Cremation has taken place. A Prayer Service will be held Friday, April 24 from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel. Visitation with the family will follow until 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Jim has requested donations be made to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, www.mcsf.org.
