Janet Campbell "Jan" Berg, age 91, of Billings died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Willowbrook Assisted Living.

She was born Feb. 23, 1920, at Ottawa, Ill., the daughter of R. Harold and Jennie M. LaDue Campbell. She was raised on a ranch at Utica and attended schools in Utica. She earned her bachelor of music at American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, Ill. She taught band and orchestra in Thompson Falls and in Pavilion, Wyo., where she met her future husband, Elihu "Hu" Berg. They were married in 1944 in West Hampton Beach, Long Island, N.Y.
After their marriage the couple lived in New York, then moved to Billings in 1946. Jan volunteered at First Baptist Church, Friendship House of Christian Service, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Montana Association for the Blind.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing, wildflower photography and needlecraft.
Jan is survived by three sons, Forrest E.(Christy) Berg of Bozeman, Jonathan P. Berg and William (Barbara) Berg, both of Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Janelle M. Allen of Billings; 10 grandchildren: Dawn (Chris) Hunter, Barry Berg, Matthew Sarver, Lily Berg, Jesse Berg, Victoria Lozano, Greg Lozano, Weston Berg, Jennifer Allen and Beth Allen;, seven great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Campbell, Dylan Rosa, Gavin, Dominic, Alex and Drew Christine; and "very special" cousins, Vera McGuire, Myron Campbell and Stan Campbell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Hu.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, at First Baptist Church, Third Ave. North and Division, Billings.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Rocky Mountain Hospice, or to a charity of choice.
