Jeffrey Kenneth Owens, 61, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 12, 2008, at his home. He was born March 7, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Leslie and Mary (Gunderson) Owens, one of three children.
The Guest Book is expired.
Jeff was involved with many and varied trades in a colorful history of making a living, starting with farming and tending cows with his uncles; member of the Hod Carriers Union/Masonry; retail sales of steel structural buildings; and continuing with carpentry until his quest for work was complete.
Jeff was unilaterally loved and respected by all who had benefit of his acquaintance. His depth of character and regard for all souls was beyond compare. He was a very humble and spiritual man who loved sharing time with family and friends, and the light of his later life, his 3-year-old granddaughter.
Even with limited means, each year he made donations to the Gallatin County Food Bank. He was the type of man who would give his last dollar to someone less fortunate. He always had a kind word and went out of his way to put a smile on a stranger's face. He was an avid reader and philosopher and excelled at the art of telling a good story. The man loved to fish, further fueling the seemingly endless yarns regarding the same. He also enjoyed trying to beat his daughter, Kristie, in numerous games of cribbage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, James.
Jeff is survived by his daughter, Kristie Noele Owens; son, Shawn Patrick Owens; sister, Leslie Kim (Owens) Vance and husband, Doug; granddaughter, Summer Raine Owens; niece, Paige, and nephew, Cade.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Lindley Center.
