A Celebration of Life service will be held for Jerry Franklin "Grizz" Miller, 68, at the home of Shawna and Albert Towner, 909 LaBonte Road, Douglas, Wyoming at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016.

Jerry died at his home near Douglas on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, of natural causes.

Jerry was born on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 1947, in Webster, South Dakota, the son of Elmo Morton and Alice Miller. The family moved to Bozeman, Montana, where Jerry was raised and educated. He graduated from the Bozeman High School in 1964. He competed for five year on the rodeo circuit as a saddle bronc rider and started a career in butchering at Vollman's Meat in Montana. He was married to Patricia Ann Taylor on Nov. 27, 1971, in Great Falls, Montana. The moved to Douglas in 1977 and he worked for Ker-Magee Uranium mines and later transferred to Jacob Ranch Coal Mine where he retired from in 2000. He also owned and operated Grizzly Meat Processing Plant along with his wife, Pat. They retired from the plant in July, 2014.

He was a member of the Jaycees and life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Grizz enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, family time, and most of all spending endless hours at the family cabin near Esterbrook.

Jerry is survived by his children, Shawna Marie (Albert) Towner and Jason Christopher (Erin) Miller both of Douglas; brother, Quinten Miller of Helena, Montana; grandchildren, Taylor Marie Towner, Matt Watkins, Robby Heron, Casey Heron, and Mason Watkins; and great granddaughter, Hallie Heron.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Pat, on Aug. 31, 2014.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ron McNare, Jake Mann, Ryan Hinckley, David Gorrell, Matt Miller, and Dave Blaylock.
