Lifelong Bozeman resident Jessie Rachel Zeier, 96, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2009. She was born Sept. 10, 1912, to Jesse Ernest and Zilla Cecelia (Dever) Patrick. Her family moved to 202 S. Seventh Ave. when Jessie was 5 years old. She would continue to live in that house until moving to Spring Meadows the last few years of her life.

Jessie graduated from Bozeman High School. She had great memories of her family's cabin in the Gallatin Canyon, near Lava Lake. She loved to sit at the cabin and listen to the calming effects of the nearby creek.

After graduation, Jessie has several jobs including Woolworth's, and she also worked at Mountain Bell Telephone Company for five years before marriage.

She married Harold George Zeier on May 22, 1937, in Bozeman. Jessie was a homemaker. She was active in Campfire girls until her boys were old enough for Cub Scouts, when she became a den mother. The family enjoyed day trips to Yellowstone National Park, Sunday rides in the Bridgers, and picnics.

Jessie was very involved in First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Christian Women's After Five Club. She enjoyed volunteering her time at many church dinners and functions. Jessie was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Jessie befriended many people and it can be said that she never met a stranger. She was especially blessed with young friends that seemed to keep her young.

Jessie is survived by her three sons and daughter-in-laws, George Edwin and Rosalind Zeier of Lafayette, Colo., Robert Patrick and Rosalee Zeier of Billings, and Charles Dennis and Lucy Zeier of Clinton, Tenn.; her grandchildren, Chris (Gail) Zeier, Candace Zeier, Caryn (Michael Weiser) Zeier, Deborah (Kevin) Knutson, Steven Patrick (Keri) Zeier, and Heather Ann (Peirs) Locke; great-grandchildren, Piper, Madison, Cade, Cailey, Jenna, Jessica, Grace, Nora, Finn and Alex; sisters-in-law, Nadine Loetzer of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Opal Johnson of Nevada; and three nieces and nephews, Scott Patrick, Gregg Patrick and Dale Irene Curtis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; and her brother, Emmett Edwin "Pat" Patrick.

Jessie's family wants to express our fondest gratitude to the wonderful friends and caregivers that have blessed our mother's life.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, at Dahl Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.dahlcares.com.
