Jessie Sinnema, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 5, 2007, in Townsend. She was born on April 24, 1918, in Manhattan to Borgert and Trientje (Oosterveldt) Kamps.

She attended school at the Barnhart, Baker Creek and Heeb schools.
She married Sam T. Sinnema on Nov. 22, 1939, in Manhattan. In addition to raising their six children, Jessie helped with farming. Jessie and Sam spent 19 winters in Florida.
She was a lifetime member of the Manhattan Christian Reformed Church, was a member of the Dorcus Guild and the catering committee.
Jessie enjoyed fishing, camping, crocheting and gardening.
She is survived by her daughters, Pat (Ken) Carlson of Grand Rapids, Mich., Dorothy (Maynard W.) Flikkema and Sheri (Eldon) VanDyken, all of Manhattan, and Peggy (Roger) DeHaan of Townsend; sons, Richard (Liz) Sinnema of Mesa, Ariz., and Ben (Beth) Sinnema of Bozeman; sister, Liz Veltkamp; sister-in-law, Helen Kamps; and brothers, George B. (Grace) Kamps and Bert B.(Harriet) Kamps; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sam in April 2006; four sisters, Gertie Danhof, Alice Dreise, Jennie Veltkamp and Bertina Feddes; and two brothers, Henry Kamps and John L. Kamps.
Visitation hours will be Wednesday, April 11, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Manhattan Christian Church's fellowship hall. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. in Churchill Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Manhattan Christian Reformed Church. Visitation hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Churchill Retirement Home or to Manhattan Christian School.
