John Meccage, 58, of Bozeman, passed away June 14, 2010.
The Guest Book is expired.
John was born May 3, 1952, in Baker to John and Mary Alice Meccage. He attended Scholes' country school until eighth grade and then graduated from Baker High School in 1970. After attending one year at Montana State University, his travels took him to Seattle, where he worked and lived for five years.
A move back to the ranch in 1975 brought him back to his roots and the badlands he grew up in. As a restless and roaming spirit, John spread his wings and headed back to the Gallatin Valley for his next round of adventures in 1987. From there, John made a niche for himself in the construction/handyman business.
When his health started to decline he was able to work at the East Main Trading Company for his dear friend, Jessica Boerger. Always one for a good laugh and known to tease, John was a true people person, and brought smiles and laughter everywhere he went.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Alice Meccage.
Survivors include his oldest brother, Dennis Meccage of Paradise, Texas; sister, Carol Ann Empie of Bangor, Maine; sister, Donna (Gary) Napton of Baker; brother, David (Sonia) Meccage of Baker; sister, Nancy Eagon of Newcastle, Wyo.; and sister, Sheila Meccage of Oakland, Calif.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and treasured friends.
Services to celebrate John's life will be held in Baker at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24, at Stevenson Funeral Home, and in Bozeman at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 26, at Dahl Funeral Chapel.
