John Robert Watson, age 56, formerly of O'Neill, Neb., passed away early Monday morning, Sept. 19, 2011, at his home in Manhattan.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at the United Methodist Church in O'Neill, Neb.
John was born Dec. 24, 1954, in O'Neill to John and Betty Watson. He graduated from O'Neill High School in 1973 and from the University of Nebraska in 1976 with a degree in criminal justice.
After many years as a successful small businessman owning and operating a furniture store in Atlantic, Iowa, John's pathway eventually lead to his work in the field of mental health. John was last employed as the manager of The Open Arms Drop-In Center, one of several services provided on the campus of the Gallatin Mental Health Center in Bozeman. John truly believed in helping those with mental health and addiction issues. He felt he found his calling working at The Drop-In Center and helping those in need of the services offered there.
