Juanita Evelyn Smith, 84, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 7, 2009. She was born Sept. 2, 1924, and raised Juanita Woirhaye in Belgrade.

After high school she married Ervin Paul Smith on Feb. 7, 1945. After retirement in 1982, they moved to Clarkston, Wash., to have a big garden. In 2001 Juanita moved to Wenatchee, Wash., to be closer to family. Juanita loved to travel and work in the garden. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Smith.
She is survived by her sister, Agnus Leavitt of Shoreline, Wash.; five children, Ruth Cook of Salem, Ore., Ron Smith of Bothell, Wash., Beverly Welty of Sheridan, Wyo., Jerry Smith of Missoula, and Karen Goodwin of East Wenatchee, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Eastmont Baptist Church, 400 S. Kentucky Ave., East Wenatchee.
