On Thursday, July 7, 2016, Karl Henry Flikkema passed from this life into the eternal arms of his loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Karl was born to George and Dorothy (Kimm) Flikkema on January 22, 1950 in Bozeman. He grew up on several farms in the Churchill area and ended up on his great-grandparent's farm. After graduating from Manhattan Christian School and Helena Vo-Tech, he returned to the family farm and married the love of his life, Doris McElwee on June 26, 1970. Here he lived the rest of his life, raising his children, and running the dairy alongside his father, and later his son Michael, until the time of his retirement in 2007.
Karl is survived by his wife, Doris; son, Michael (Melinda) of Manhattan; daughter, Sheila (Calvin) Westervelt of Grand Rapids, Michigan and son, Derek (Melissa) of Bozeman; grandchildren, Charlotte, Tenley, Aiden, Sierra, Philip and Nicholas; brother, Melvin (Carol) of Grand Rapids, MI; sisters, Joyce of Grand Rapids, and Beverly (Dean) Walhof of Orange City, Iowa; brother-in-law, Lawrence (Marlene) McElwee of Bremerton, Washington; sisters-in-law, Beverly (Garry) Tillett of Otis, Oregon and Lin Pettit of Palm Bay, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Tristan, his parents, and brother-in-law, Dick Pettit.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service. Interment will be at the Churchill Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, with memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Churchill.
