On Nov. 23, 2007, Katherine Marlene Papke passed away from her courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 24, 1942, to James and Lena Gee in the Bear Creek area. She was the youngest of 11, and family was her passion.

At the age of 17 1/2, Marlene made a life on a ranch in the Bridger Canyon area, Marrying her husband of 48 years, Charles Papke, and spent numerous, wonderful years as a loving mother and a wonderful companion, as well as a role model for everyone that came in touch with her.
Marlene fought for five years with cancer and is finally with her Lord. Her passion for remembering the past inspired her to scrap collecting and taking pictures and genealogy.
Her children and grandchildren have taken her several places with sports and music interest. For several years she enjoyed traveling and numerous dances and gatherings. She enjoyed the rodeos, parades, camping, tinkering in the yard with her array of flowers and her pond.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Papke; sons, Kevin Papke, Ron Papke and Mike Papke; and her grandchildren, Bridger Papke, Sara Papke and Makayla Papke.
The memorial service is to be held at First Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.
The Papke family would like to thank the staff and management of Bozeman Deaconess Hospital and Hospice for the wonderful care that was shown to "Mom." Thanks for the professionalism as well as the personal care for our family.
