Kathryn Richter Hoem of Stafford, Va., previously of Bozeman and Helena, passed away Sept. 30, 2007. She was born to Fern Elizabeth Neal and Richard Arnold Richter in Norris on Aug. 21, 1916.

Kathryn grew up in the Norris and Bozeman areas.
On Nov. 18, 1940, she married Orville Thomas Hoem. Together they had three children: Donald D. Hoem of Stafford, Va., Suellyn Kjersem (deceased), and Jana Reynolds of Helena.
She enjoyed visiting with friends over a cup of coffee, cooking for family and friends, knitting, crocheting, tending her flower gardens and reading. As a foster mother for Gallatin County for many years, many newborn babies got their start in life in her loving arms until placed with a family.
Kathryn is preceded in death by her husband, Orville; her son, Dickie Ray; daughter, Suellyn; a brother, Bud Richter; sister, Dickie Pinkerton; and grandson, Daniel Rybolt.
She is survived by son, Donald Hoem (Marsha) of Stafford, Va.; daughter, Jana Reynolds of Helena; nine grandchildren: Karalee (Steven) Rich of Texas and Jeff (Mary) Kjersem of New York, Amanda and Sherry of Stafford, Va., Lyle Jr., Howard and Rebecca of Gloucester, Va., Katelyn and Aaron of Helena; and 13 great-grandchildren: Stephenie, Nichole, Robbie, Miles, Levi, Bobby, Kristen, Carey, Dalton, Chira, Christina, Brandon and Justin.
Kathryn was lovingly known as "Goog" to her family and close friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, in Bozeman at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
