Kelly Meyers of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away suddenly on Aug. 19, 2016, with his wife Denise "Mookie" by his side.

He was born Dec. 8, 1945, to M.E. "Riley" Meyers and Norma (Doran) Meyers. He married Denise Blakeslee Bauer on March 16, 1984.
Kelly was raised in Shannon, Illinois, and was a 1963 graduate of Shannon High School, where he was a standout athlete. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
After working in management at Kelly Springfield, he started his own title and abstract company in Mt. Carroll Illinois. He then moved his family west and became a successful real estate/development entrepreneur in Bozeman, Scottsdale, Arizona, and Florida.
Kelly loved to live large and enjoyed life to the fullest by traveling extensively with his wife. He was an avid outdoorsman who hunted and fished. He loved Arabian horses and had a keen eye for picking many champions. He was a huge sports fan, particularly the Chicago Cubs, Bears and Fighting Illini. He enjoyed attending the sporting events of his children and grandchildren and always encouraged them in their academic achievements. Kelly also enjoyed playing cards and other games of chance with his many friends.
Kelly is survived by his loving wife; four children: Kipp (Betsy Shaulis) Meyers of Lanark, Illinois, Stacey Byer of Shannon, Illinois, and their mother Lynn Gardner, Eric (Lindsey) Drake of Bozeman, and Colin (May Jean) Bauer of Tamuning, Guam; eight grandchildren: Mackenzie Byer, Abby Byer, Steve Drake, Addy Drake, Willa Drake, Michael Cabsaban, Bella Bauer and Izzy Bauer. He is also survived by sister Loxi (Tom) Hopkins; brother Barry (Jean) Meyers; brother George (Karen) Kriske and sister-in-law Mary Meyers; special cousins Ken (Jay) Alexander, Lexi (Rich) Etchberger and Georgia Alexander; special friends Bob and Bryce Hartman, Scott (Nicole) Hartman, Jamie (Chris) McMillin and families, Jan (Lee) Rockafellow; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and last but not least, buddy Oreo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Riley Meyers, nephews Tony Hopkins and Rob Meyers, and granddaughter Angel Jean Bauer.
A memorial fund will be established in his name and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
