Lorraine Swanhild Jacobsen, 84, a long-time resident of Manhattan, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2013 at the home of her son Curtis in Clackamas, Ore. where she had been residing the last two years.
The Guest Book is expired.
Lorraine was born Dec. 4, 1928 in Wahpeton, N.D., the daughter of Andrew and Alma Slotten. She grew up on the family farm near Wahpeton, where she graduated from high school in 1946. Lorraine then went on to become a registered nurse. She met and married her husband, Lloyd Jacobsen of Spokane, Wash., in 1953. They had a little over 57 years together before Lloyd passed away on Jan. 9, 2011.
Together Lloyd and Lorraine raised five children, Brian (Connie) of Snoqualmie, Wash., Craig of Mexico, Debbie of Clackamas, Ore., Stuart (Patricia) of Manhattan, and Curtis of Clackamas, Ore. Lorraine worked as a nurse for several years after marriage, but was a loving caregiver all her life, as her children, grandchildren, and many others can attest to. Lorraine is remembered as a sweet, selfless, loving mom, grandma, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend to countless many. Her life gave great evidence of her love for God and for the Son of God, and testified she was a true child of God.
Lorraine leaves behind her five children; six grandchildren, Elissa (Jason) Laxdal, Kyle, Jolayna, Tia (Jamar) Johnson, Austin, and Tawna; sisters- and brothers-in-law; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
A service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Zoot Enterprises near Four Corners. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. the same day at the Meadow View Cemetery near Manhattan.
