Luanne Gibson, 57, of Bozeman, passed away on New Year's Eve, 2012.

She was born in Toledo, Ohio on Jan. 14, 1955 to Nikki and Omar Frank Smith. Luanne graduated from Montana State University where she received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 1993. After graduation, she continued work at MSU Facilities Services until 2000 when she owned Artifact's Gallery which allowed her to showcase and connect with local artists of all kinds. She sold the gallery to her care for her passing mother and was recently working at John Tate's Workroom as a seamstress.

A talented metal-smith, sculptor, costume-designer, painter, and a passionate artist inspired by all media, Luanne was devoted to celebrating and supporting other artists in her community. She taught art classes for fifth graders at Whittier Elementary in 1994 and always enjoyed sharing new techniques with artists of all ages. In 1978, she developed recreational programs and art classes for Cerebral Palsy clients at Torch through the University of Toledo.

During her time at Artifact's Gallery she also volunteered with the Downtown Bozeman Association and the Bozeman Chamber of Commerce. She was a beloved wife and mother who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Wm. Patrick, her siblings: Rocky Smith, Charlie Smith, and Chris Buchholz, and her children: Shayna and Adam.

There will be a celebration of Luanne's life held in the summer.
