At 6:15 p.m. on a good Sunday, the first in October, Margaret Snyder, age 88, joined her husband, John already experiencing the presence of the Lord. The Apostle Paul tells us to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord - home at last!
Margaret Ann, as she was known most of her life, grew up in Bozeman at 426 W. Cleveland. She attended schools here in Bozeman through high school and two years at MSC. Having started here, she completed her education at the University of Minnesota where she received her R.N. summa cum laude.
In the summer of 1946 Margaret and John began a lifelong commitment in marriage to one another. This took them both back to Minneapolis where John completed his education and Margaret pursued her career as an office and public health nurse.
As a couple, now with one child, Mark, they moved to Berkeley for the first of many moves as John pursued his teaching career, as well as administration.
A daughter, Kathryn, was added to their family which kept Marg busy as mother, partner in university life, and the choice she made to be a friend and Bible study leader at every new university location. How many lives were influenced and changed through Margaret's ministry only eternity will tell.
After retirement the Snyders lived in Tucson, Ariz., for a number of happy years. As time passed and health issues arose, Kathryn and her husband, Alan, invited them to live in Glendale with their family. While there, John Snyder passed away, and later all of them moved to South Carolina where Marg continued to be part of the Levit family watching her grandson, Alex grow into manhood. This move also gave easy access for her son, Mark and family to see her regularly.
Her final years were lived out in Lifecare Nursing Home on Hilton Head Island where her daughter generously took excellent care of her, meeting her daily needs. Now she has made her final move - home at last!
She will be missed greatly by all who knew her and especially by her family who love her deeply.
She is survived by a son, Mark Snyder, M.D. (Carol) and family, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a daughter, Kathryn (Alan) and son. Also surviving are two brothers, B. John Heetderks, M.D. (Lois) and family, and A. De Heetderks, M.D. (Jean) and family.
