Margaret Lorraine Lovely, 81, passed away Monday, March 15, 2010. She was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Glendale, Calif., the daughter of the Rev. Clifford Fredrick and Mabel (Noble) Jones.

Margaret spent her childhood and teen years in San Diego, Pasadena, and Bellflower, Calif. She grew up as a Presbyterian preacher's kid and she was a life-long member. She volunteered for several years as a Presbyterian Church youth group leader in Bozeman.

Following World War II, she met and married Joseph V. Lovely, a Montana native, on April 6, 1947, in Bellflower, Calif. Margaret and Joseph came to Bozeman in 1954, following two years in Fairbanks, Alaska.

A lover of the out-of-doors from early childhood, Margaret spent her summers in the mountains. Since coming to Montana, she has lived in South Cottonwood Canyon, Bear Canyon, and the city of Bozeman.

Since the death of her husband, she has written many feature articles for the Great Falls Tribune, Bozeman Daily Chronicle, the High Country, and was published in a national historical magazine, as well as other newspapers throughout the state.

Inspired by the beauty of Montana and its great outdoors, Margaret spent considerable time photographing animals and nature subjects in her spare time. Because of what she saw here, she decided to put her feelings in writing a poetry book for others to share.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and an infant son.

Margaret is survived by her son, Douglas (Gloria) Lovely; daughters, Rebecca Lovely, and Deborah (Jim) Jones; granddaughters, Jennifer and Jessica Jones; brother, Stanley N. (Louise) Jones; and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 19, at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel.
