Michael Robert Visscher, 55, of Bozeman, died at his home of natural causes Monday, Nov. 14, 2011. Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory in Livingston. A family service will be scheduled at a later date.

Michael was born July 26, 1956, in Izmir, Turkey, the son of Robert W. and Joan M. (Foss) Visscher. He lived with his parents at various locations throughout the world while his father served in the military.
In 1972 the family moved to Bozeman, and in 1974 Michael graduated from Bozeman High School. He then entered the U.S. Army, rose rapidly in rank and served a distinguished enlistment as an instructor at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, and later in Germany as a Medical Platoon Sergeant.
In 1991 Michael retired from the military due to ill health and returned to Montana, eventually settling in Bozeman. At the time of his death he was employed at Montana Imports.
Michael enjoyed spectator sports and was an avid reader.
Survivors include children, Michael R. "Rob" Visscher and Matthew S. Visscher, both of Bozeman; step-children Justin West and Brook West, both of Seattle; his father, Robert Visscher of Livingston and Mesa, Ariz.; sister, Gail Visscher of Oak Harbor, Wash.; brother, David (Heidi) Visscher of Bozeman; granddaughter, Sienna Teafoe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Visscher in 1993.
