Michael Smith, 61, of Bozeman passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014.
How might a simple man be remembered? When a president or dignitary passes on, we march a parade to honor their service, marble is struck and bronze is cast that we might immortalize, in our nation's eye, perfect images of our gone heroes.
Yet when the simple men of this earth pass into the still night, how should we honor them so? For verily there is no greater hero in any man's life than his own father.
Therefore, no brief mention can make known the incredible knowledge and intense love that Mike had for the mountains of Montana. It is impossible to encapsulate such an amazing spirit with these incapable words.
So is stay of many words shown here, our family would ask one thing of anyone who knew Mike; please share your stories.
Perhaps you knew Mike when he was a young man. You might have hunted elk, built a hot-rod or chased after girls together. Or perhaps you knew Mike in his prime and you enjoyed a passionate discussion of politics, theology, and world history. And just maybe you had the chance to taste some of the best western-style cooking the world has known.
We ask that you share these stories with your friends and family, today and forever.
For when we honor a man in this way, erected to him is a true and unperfect monument in our hearts. Please join with our family in building this proverbial shrine to one of the true patriarchs of our treasured land.
"If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid. There is another that testifies in my favor, and I know that his testimony about me is valid." – John 5:31
