Miranda Millard, 82, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital after a year-long battle with lung cancer. She was born on Sept. 5, 1925, in Van Cleave, Ky., to Harlem and Lulu (Van Cleave) Banks.
The Guest Book is expired.
She married Roy Millard and the couple made their home in Cincinnati, Ohio. During her time in Cincinnati, Miranda was a make-up and hairstyle model for the television station. Following her modeling career she owned and operated a successful beauty shop.
She and Roy retired to Florida in 1968.
Miranda moved to Bozeman in 2003 to be near her grandson and his family.
She loved to sew and made many dresses for her two great-granddaughters who were her pride and joy.
Miranda is survived by her grandson, Shannon Prendergast and his children, Meriel and Maisie; sisters, Rose Spencer, Edith Perkins, Gwen Banks and Stella Banks; brother, Harlem Banks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Millard in 1988; sisters, Monva and Emilou; and brothers, Orville, Carlisle and Billy.
She was very generous and loving to her family and will forever be missed. We thank her for her kindness and love. May she find that peace and joy that we feel comes after life which our Granny is so deserving. In our heart we picture her laughing and singing.
At her request, her body has been donated to the WWAMI Program at MSU for the purpose of medical science. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Kentucky.
