June 4, 1929 - June 5, 2008

Jane was born in Three Forks on June 4, 1929. She lived on the family ranch just outside of Pony with her parents, Harvey (1898-1996) and Madge (1902-1987) Manley; her brothers, Phil and Joe; and her sister, Clara (Bob Johnson).

She rode her horse to elementary school in Pony, attended middle school in Harrison, and moved to Bozeman for her high school years. It was about this time that she met her future husband, Duane G. Urdahl (1929-1998). They were married on Jan. 21, 1950.

Jane and Duane raised their family (Rick, Mitch and Diane) in Bozeman. As the school secretary at Hawthorne Elementary for 30 years, Jane met hundreds of students and teachers and had great things to say about all of them. "Miss Jane" positively touched many lives.

In the mid-1970s Duane came home with the deed to a piece of land on the shores of Ennis Lake containing sagebrush, sand and a small 1961 trailer house. Jane was skeptical (it's rumored that she may have called DuDad names) but rolled up her sleeves and planted flowers, a garden and grass. With the help of Duane and her kids (mostly Mitch), trees and lilacs were planted. Jane's green thumb and keen landscaping eye transformed the prairie into her family's very own favorite place.

Jane had six grandchildren: Rick and Karlyn's Tucker and Marlo, Mitch's Kane, and Gary and Diane Guthrie's Eileen, Leslie and JoAna. Jane's great-grandchildren are Donny and Marlo Maxwell's Will and Ellie Jane.

Jane dearly loved visiting with all her nieces and nephews and hearing all the news about their offspring. No one loved a party more than Jane!

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel, followed by a celebration of life function at the Lindley Center.
